Can you believe it’s already the middle of September? It’s time for the next Urban Fantasy Author’s update. Here is what’s new in the Fire Salamander World.
What am I currently working on?
Currently, I am working on editing the fourth book of the Shadow Enforcer series. The first editorial review is done, and now I’m in the midst of the second one, which is the most time involving and complicated part. During this phase of editing, I review every single chapter and do a few rewrites and adjustments. It takes a lot of work, but I love doing it because it helps me polish and improve my work.
On another note, I’m done with the research and planning of the fifth book of the series. It took me quite some time to get all the materials I needed, but finally I’m done, and now I’m looking forward to diving into writing the first draft.
Ask The Author
Question: Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?
Answer: Wonderful question, Andrea. Thank you! I am on Facebook and Instagram only. Also, I have a Facebook Readers' Group. I love when my readers interact with me on social media or via email/website messages. I answer all the comments, questions, and messages myself, and it’s the best part of my day.
if you have a question, please email it to me, and I'll be happy to answer it in my next newsletter.
What am I watching?
I decided to revisit Grimm, the TV series, since it’s available with my Amazon Prime subscription. There are a few Fantasy series that I love, and from time to time, I re-watch them.
What I’m looking forward to is the release of Amazon’s Wheel of Time show. I loved the books, and the first trailer of the show was great!
What am I doing?
Now that the second phase of editing is on the way, I’ve started working on the cover design for the fourth book of the Shadow Enforcer series. I design all my covers myself, and the design process is just as involving as writing the actual story. All my covers are a combination of photo manipulation and digital illustration. Besides creating the model that represents the look of the main character (Damian Blake in this case), I also put a lot of effort into creating the appropriate background.
Some events of my stories take place in unusual places in our world, so when I work on the background of my book covers, I try to show these places if possible. A good example of this is The Burns Enigma, the 5th book of the Fire Salamander Chronicles. Some events of this book are set at Mount Vottovaara, and I used the photo of this mysterious and strange place as the background of the cover.
The Superstition Mountains are in the background of The Shadow Enforcer book, and Downtown Phoenix is visible in the background of The Shadow Deception. I guess you’ll have to wait to see what I’m planning to use as the background for the 4th book of the series. 😉
I can’t wait to finish my new book cover and share it with you!
