Earlier today, I looked at the blog page on my website and realized that my last Author’s Update was at the beginning of December 2023. This is my first update this year, and I must say, a lot has happened in these three months.
Of course, my biggest news is the release of The Storm Challenge, the third book of the Chronicles of Storm series. The Storm Challenge received a warm welcome, rising to number one on the Amazon New Releases list in the Folklore category, and I couldn’t be more grateful for your continuous support.
What am I working on?
My current project is the next installment of the Chronicles of Storm series. At about 60K words, I am getting very close to the middle point of the story. So, what should you expect from the next book? Here are three random facts:
FACT 1: Would you like to see Declan in his element? And I don’t mean the elemental Air. I’m talking about Declan in his element as a supernatural thief and conman. What kind of heist is he planning now? I guess you’ll have to wait to find out.
FACT 2: There are a few “celebrity” cameos in this book. So expect to see a few familiar faces.
FACT 3: As always, you can expect to meet more monsters from Slavic Lore, more adventures with danger lurking behind every corner, and more places of the Salamanderverse to explore.
Ask the Author.
Question: "End of chapter 2 [The Storm Challenge] and my favorite character has made an appearance. Surely, N.M. Thorn, there is a part of your kind soul that whispers of a book about him [Master Mrak Delar] / Kendral??"
Answer: Over the course of the last few years, I’ve received quite a few questions about Mrak Delar, a dark and mysterious Master of Power, as well as the realm where he resides—Kendral. He is one of three Masters of Power, but unlike the other two, he is both the Light and the Darkness.
(Yes, there are three Masters of Power in Kendral, even though you’ve met only two of them so far: The Ancient Master of Power Mrak Delar and The Young Master of Power Alliandr, Mrak’s mentee and the youngest Master of Kendral in the history of the realm.)
Mrak is a fierce fighter, and so far, he hasn’t met anyone who could best him in a sword fight or single combat. And when it comes to wielding elemental power and magic, he is unmatched. He is everything—the King and the slave, the Darkness and the Light, but when it comes to his friends and people he loves, he's loyal through and through.
So, is there going to be a book about Mrak Delar? The answer to your question is yes. There is a trilogy in plan that will explore the stories of all three Masters of Power, including Mrak Delar. It will expose Mrak’s backstory, explaining his duality, as well as his complicated relationship with Alliandr. It will also allow you to take a trip to Kendral and have an adventure in the Elemental Lands of the realm of Magic.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me. I’ll be happy to answer your questions in my next Author’s update.
As always, thank you all so much for your continued support.
Happy reading!
N.M. Thorn
Enter the Salamanderverse, where magic and ancient myths are real, and things are not what they appear to be.
If you haven't done it yet, you can download "The Burns Path”, a prequel to the Fire Salamander Chronicles Urban Fantasy series, for FREE on my website. The events of this 49,000-word novella occur before the Burns Fire, and it can be read as a standalone book.
